TREASURER & CFO

Strong fiscal stewardship and transparency are top priorities at West Clermont. I’m honored to be able to help the district find ways to maintain a per-pupil spending level that is below the state and surrounding district average while simultaneously providing a well-rounded experience for our students.

—Daniel M. Romano III, Treasurer and CFO

Biography

Daniel M. Romano became Treasurer and CFO of West Clermont Schools in August of 2020. Since joining the district, he has drawn on his nearly 40 years of experience in the industry to successfully develop and implement an Onward and Upward investment plan that has furthered the district’s mission to commit to excellence with every learner, every day, every way.

Additionally, he has been asked to speak at national conferences on the topic of school finance, and the district has been recognized each year by the Government Financial Officers Association and Association of School Business Officials with certificates of achievement and excellence, respectively.

Dan holds a bachelor’s in accounting and finance and an MBA in finance from The University of Toledo. His previous experience includes serving as treasurer/CFO and business manager in Toledo and Sylvania City School Districts. He is also CEO and co-founder of Edventures in Learning, Inc., a strategic learning and communication company, and was recruited by Root Learning to serve as an international consultant assisting Fortune 500 companies in developing and bringing their strategic plans to life. Forecast5 Analytics, a start-up company focused on building a business intelligence and forecasting platform for the public sector recruited Dan to become their Senior Vice President, responsible for the growth and development of new and innovative business intelligence tools for local governments across Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.

We pride ourselves on transparency in operations and believe that strong fiscal stewardship is essential to the experience that we provide in our classrooms and by our teachers. The district’s financial statements are audited annually through the Ohio Auditor’s Office, and we have repeatedly received the Certificate of Achievement in Financial Reporting from the Government Financial Officers Association as well as the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials.

As a school district, West Clermont Schools operates a frugal daily operational budget. Our per pupil spending is well below the state and surrounding district average, which means we are doing as much as we can with less. Added to that, we direct our limited resources to the classroom where they matter most, but our budget is lean and any reductions have a direct impact on the student experience.
